Summit vs Competition

SUMMIT VS COMPETITION

What is the difference for the client when Summit builds a job vs most other contractors?
  • Summit is one of the only Contractors in Minnesota that is GAF Master Elite Certified, Cedar Bureau Certified Members (cedar certified) and DaVinci Synthetic Slate & Shake Certified.  Very hard to obtain these certifications, especially the Cedar & DaVinci certs, this puts us in an extremely elite class.  ( The only other company we know of that has these 3 certifications is Allstar)

  • Extensive Portfolio working on the top 5% of homes in the state of Minnesota.  We’ve built jobs and made our name in the most exclusive parts of Minnesota. these areas include Rolling Greens, Indian Hills and Parkwood Knolls in Edina, Lake Minnetonka, Dellwood, North Oaks, & Bearpath Eden Prairie.  This portfolio can be found on our website.

  • Staff Production Managers on site during build, Our staff production team are all local guys, english speaking, born in Minnesota, have installed and done construction and are trained to the highest standard. – to ensure quality installation and resolve issues promptly if and when they arise.  Most companies do not do this, and rely purely on the sales rep to visit the build site.

  • Owners often stop out at the jobsites – Both Brock and Charlie stop at properties on a daily basis to check out jobs prior, during or after builds. This is usually never the case for most companies our size.  At any other company that builds over 300 jobs per season you will usually never see an owner at any of the job sites.

  • Large crews – most often we use 10 man crews, this helps us to get the roof opened up and finished promptly.  Most companies use 2-4 man crews. Some roofs may take them 2 days, versus a half a day for us.  On very large jobs we may double the crews up to have 20 men on site. This minimizes the inconvenience of a construction project so people can resume their daily life without having longer than needed disruption.

  • We don’t need a down payment to order or start the job (we send a progress invoice for the ACV value once the job is scheduled or built)

  • Short Lead Times – we are usually only 1 week out for build scheduling on roofing, when we get really busy we may get to 2 weeks

  • We have extensive knowledge and experience installing the highest end materials on the market, we use materials that most other exterior companies never get to touch.

  • Twice the insurance of most contractors – $2 million per occurrence on Summit’s general liability insurance.

  • Custom metal flashings when needed.  We have a metal brake in our shop and for other pieces we custom order them directly from a metal shop.  Custom chimney flashing, pan flashings, custom regelet, whatever it is we get the right piece for the job, most contractors try to reuse old metal we prefer to replace.

  • Dump Trailers instead of dumpsters (roofing only) Dump trailers can be brought the morning of the build and taken away the same day.  Dumpster have the tendency of getting in the way

  • Captured Subcontractors – our roofing and siding crews work only for Summit, we keep them busy each day and have an set guidelines for installation and build requirements that the crews know and understand to follow.

  • All project builds are installed to code and per manufacturer guidelines. Once big difference is most companies do not re-deck houses, they shingle over the old plank sheathing which is against most shingle manufacturer guidelines.

  • Window jobs are processed in house by our own staff team.  Most other exterior storm damage companied do not do window replacement, and if they do they often sublet them out to a 3rd party window only company for estimating, ordering and production.

  • Amazing estimating team that has worked with all insurance companies, all estimating down in house, not oursourced to 3rd party estimating companies.
